Men showing symptoms of impotence should get medical help .

Medical experts say that men showing symptoms of impotence should get medical help to overcome the problems.
They made the suggestion after a judge at the Taichung branch of the Taiwan High Court recently nullified because of a complaint filed by his wife the marriage of a man surnamed Hsu who is suffering from erectile dysfunction (impotence).

Hsu's wife asked the court to annul the marriage, which was not consummated after five months.

She also asked for a compensation of NT$2 million (S$85, 248) because she felt that Hsu had cheated her on purpose.

In his defense, Hsu said he had some problem with erection mainly because that he has diabetes.

But the judge granted a compensation of NT$400,000 based on a medical examination report from the National Taiwan University Hospital.

The judge also handed down the verdict based on Hsu's past record and the testimony of his first wife.

Hsu, a government employee, had married before and the previous marriage did not last long either.
His first wife told the court that she had suspected her ex-husband of being impotent because they never really lived like a married couple.

She told the court that she decided to file for divorce after she eventually realized Hsu could be gay and preferred to spend much time with male partners.

Under the existing laws, a marriage can be nullified if any of the parties cannot fulfill their sexual obligation to their spouse.

Medical experts said that impotency is not an unusual problem and males in Taiwan can overcome problems related to erectile dysfunction by seeking treatment.
